About #GivingTuesday

#GivingTuesday is a movement to celebrate and provide incentives to give—the 2016 iteration will be held on November 29, 2016. This effort harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners—nonprofits, businesses and corporations as well as families and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. #GivingTuesday inspires people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they celebrate and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media to create a global moment dedicated to giving around the world.

#GivingTuesday is held annually the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, this year on November 29, 2016.

#GivingTuesday can build on the strength of a global movement to increase exposure and build support for your organization’s philanthropic activities, especially during the holiday giving season. The #GivingTuesday team will provide a variety of plug-and-play materials created by industry experts that can help you use social media and innovative marketing to draw attention, support, and funds to your cause.

Your organization will have the opportunity to join over 30,000 partners around the world to enhance the philanthropic sector as a whole; just as the retail world has benefited from coordinating national shopping days across many brands and platforms, #GivingTuesday will do the same for giving.

#HarfordCountyGives arose from the desire to coordinate annual #GivingTuesday efforts into a locally focused, year-round initiative.  Our focus is to help Harford nonprofits optimize their efforts for fundraising and finding volunteers — and mobilize local business to support causes that resonate with them.

#HarfordCountyGives is a “#GivingTuesday” movement that engages our neighbors, local nonprofits and businesses.
